14 months {jacob}

Age: 14 months on January 18, 2016

Sleeps: 6:30pm – 6:30am with one wake up a night still around 2:00 or 3:00 am.  One day we’ll all sleep again.  One day.

Naps: Same as last month: Jacob naps very well at home.  He takes a one to two and a half hour nap each morning starting around 8:30 or 9:00am.  He goes down easily without a fuss.  Jacob takes a second nap each afternoon around two or three.  At school he is doing a little better and takes a one and a half to two hour nap each afternoon.  I’ll take it.

Eats: Jacob still nurses a few times a day when I am home and eats breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an afternoon snack.  He loves scrambled eggs, bananas, pears, peaches, oranges, sweet potato, quesadilla, rice, noodles, turkey meatballs, plain pancakes, homemade muffins, and drinking whole milk and water from a sippy cup.

Diapers: Size 5

Clothes: 24 month clothes

Loves: crawling {although he CAN walk, he doesn’t WANT to walk}, standing, climbing up and down the sofa, playing with Andrew’s toys {puzzles, blocks, cars, books}, feeding himself, “dancing” to music, “talking,” his siblings {which he is doing a lot more of}, cuddling, playing outside, the dishwasher, and his pacifier, playing with all of the plastic containers in the bottom drawer in the kitchen, walking around with his walking toy, bath him, and being an independent baby.

Does NOT like: being tired or too hungry or being picked up when he wants to keep crawling around.  He does NOT like it when Andrew takes a toy away from him.

New this month: He took his first steps!  On Christmas day we were at my parent’s house for breakfast.  I made a comment that it would be so memorable and special if Jacob started walking on Christmas, and not one minute later he took his first three steps right to me!  Since then, he has put together about 10 steps at a time, but still prefers to walk and to be carried everywhere {4th child syndrome?}.  He will be SO happy once he starts walking everywhere because he’ll be able to play in the back yard with his brother and sisters.

Best moment{s}: Christmas break and Jacob’s first steps on Christmas Day.

Most difficult moment{s}: Returning to work after Christmas Break.  The time off with my kids reminds me how much I love being home with them!

Looking forward to: more walking and talking!

And just for fun, here is Andrew’s 14 month update.
