valentine tea party

We have a fun tradition going in my family.  My mom and I take turns hosting holiday tea parties: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter… we break out our collection of old tea cups, many of which are from my mother, grandmother, and even great grandmother.  We bake yummy goodies and invite some friends and family members to join in.  This year my two girls really wanted to host a Valentine tea, so I drew up an invitation and recruited them to help make some fun heartfelt pink and red Valentine decorations.

Our sweet menu for this lunch time tea included…

choice of peach or raspberry tea

raspberry lemonade

spring greens with spinach salad with heart shaped sliced strawberries, gorgonzola cheese, and avocado all tossed in a poppy seed dressing

fresh strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries with cream

maple pecan scones {{pioneer woman}} similar recipe, here

heart shaped PB&J and turkey tea sandwiches

pink thumbprint cookies

red velvet rice krispie treats

milk chocolate dipped shortbread hearts

pretzel squares with hershey hugs and M&Ms

My girls helped by decorating the dessert table {an antique tea cart passed onto me by my aunt}.

I made a couple of festive banners, decorated my dinning room chalkboard, and set the table with a fun Valentine table cloth, tea cups, red napkins, and fun heart plates.

As much fun as I had decorating, baking, and planning, I had even more fun enjoying the company of my family at our tea party.  What fun Valentine traditions do you have?

xoxo
