13 month update {andrew}

13 months!  Before I had kids, I always thought it was so strange that we say babies’ ages in months between one and two years of age, but it kind of makes sense to me now.  Babies change SO much between one and two.  An eighteen month old can do so much more than a 12 month old and a twenty three month old does a whole lot more than an eighteen month old…anyway, I am thoroughly enjoying my 13-month-old.  He is just wonderful and I fall more in love with him each day.  What a wonderful gift he is!

Age: 13 months on March 20, 2014

Weight:  forgot to check before he went to bed!   Height:  will hopefully remember tomorrow!

Sleeps: very well!  He is usually in bed by 7 p.m. and wakes up around 6:30 a.m.  About five nights a week though, he wakes up around 5 a.m. to nurse for ten minutes and then goes right back to bed.  I could probably very easily break this habit by letting him cry a morning or two, but I have to admit, I enjoy this mommy and baby time, so I let it continue.

Naps: really well still {yay!}.  When he is home with me, Andrew takes a two hour nap around 9:00 or 9:30 am and then another hour to two hour nap around 1:00 or 2:00 pm.  At his daycare, Andrew takes one nap that lasts about an hour and a half to two hours each afternoon starting around 1:00 pm.

Eats: like he has a hole in his leg!  Seriously, he never stops!  He eats Cherrios and a GIANT bowl of oatmeal mixed with fruit pure for breakfast often accompanied by scrambled eggs and/or toast.  He drinks a 6-8 oz. sippy cup of cow’s milk while at daycare each day.  For lunch he eats homemade purees fruit and veggie purees, and lots of finger foods {i.e. turkey meatballs, pasta, fruit, veggies, carrots, cheese, etc.} for lunch around 11:30 am and dinner around 5:00 pm.  Andrew also eats a snack each afternoon {usually a fruit, cheese, or yogurt}.  Andrew is great with his fingers, but is still figuring out the spoon and fork.  He usually plays the “let’s see how many times I can get mommy to pick it up” game.  He also loves to ham it up and hold his sippy cup of water between his teeth and tilt his head back so that the cup is straight up in the air.  He is not a fan of his bib and usually rips it off enough times so that I surrender and go without.

Diapers: still in size 5, but looking like we could switch to size 6 and still be okay

Clothes: 18 – 24 months, but really more like 24 months/2T because a lot of the 18 months clothes {mainly shirts and sweaters} are looking a little short/tight

Loves: climbing the stairs, pointing at things, “running” away quickly when you say, “Andrew, I’m going to get you!”, reading books in Mommy’s lap each night and pointing to all the animals, trucks, etc. in each book, grandpa, going outside, crawling on his own everywhere {rather than being carried}, going up and down a single step over and over and over again, his sisters, food, dancing whenever he hears music or someone sings to him

Does NOT like: when Caitlyn squeezes his face

New this month: He says “dog” and “da” for dragon {we read the book “That’s Not My Dragon” almost every night}, he calls me “mama” {or at least he did specifically one time…hoping for more soon!}, and says “dada” to Eric consistently.  He can climb a flight of 16 stairs, by himself, in about 20 seconds flat.  He is FAST.  He will walk along furniture and will slowly walk while holding onto my hands.  He dumps Cherrios out of a bowl or bag and picks them up one at a time and puts them back.

Looking forward to: His first steps!  More language development {he is SO much quieter than my two girls who were TALKERS by 13 months}.  Watching his personality continue to develop.
