a very {scottsdale} fourth of july

Yesterday we got home from a week in Scottsdale, Arizona.  I’ve been visiting Scottsdale for almost 30 years and absolutely love it there.  The desert scenery is beautiful, my grandfather has a fabulous house right on a golf course, the restaurants are great {I could do a whole post alone on our favorite food spots!}, and there is plenty to do, even when it hits 115 degrees!

We love to visit my grandpa over the 4th of July each year, not for the fun fireworks on the golf course {although we DO love that part}, but because he was born on the 4th of July.

This year we spent a lot of time in the pool…

had margaritas & Mexican food at my favorite Mexican restaurant, Jalapeno Inferno…

did a little shopping at some of our favorite spots…

watched fireworks on the golf course…

went to the famous Sugar Bowl for lunch…

enjoyed a dinner at the original Pinnacle Peak Patio…

and had an overall great time with family.

This was Andrew’s first vacation & long car ride {come back on Wednesday to hear about traveling with a baby!}.  He is such a calm, happy baby that I wasn’t too worried about taking him on vacation without Eric, but I knew I would be exhausted in the end.  A vacation with three kids and no husband is really no “vacation” at all…but we still managed to have a great time!

What did you do for the Fourth of July this year?
